Ho’opika meaning hospital in the native tongue is another famous beach in the region. It is the best place in the world for surfing and if you are looking for some adventure, then you must try it out. You can also try snorkelling or just take a stroll along the beach and enjoy the scene.
Iao Valley State Park
Iao Valley State Park is in the middle of the Maui region and is spread over an area of more than 4000 acres. It is the home of the Iao needle, a volcanic rock which juts out reaching a height of about 12,000 feet.
Seven Sacred Pools
Also known as the Ohe’o Gulch Pool, the spot is a very popular attraction primarily because of the many pools and waterfalls that decorate the land. It is always best to reach a bit early as the place is often crowded.
Makena State Park
This majestic state park encompasses a total of 165 acres and also plays host to two of the most popular beaches, the Big beach and Little beach. You can sunbath here or decide to surf. There are a lot of parties and bonfires which feature a lot of dancing and therefore, ensure that you book a place early and enjoy the evergreen festive season here.
Hawaii Nature Centre
The Hawaii Nature Centre is actually located in the twin sites of Oahu and Maui. The centre organises a lot of educational programmes and is a very good place to visit if kids decide to accompany you.
It is Maui’s only winery that is currently in business. There are many varieties of wine here and Maui is famous for the Maui Brut Sparkling so ensure that you do check it out. The winery staff is very friendly and will graciously escort you and you can also try the many wines that are on display.
